One of my favorite to date since I started being more conscience about my choices and what I'm spending money have been my cloth napkins!  My husband thought I was ridiculous when I picked them up at our local Home Goods. What the heck did we need cloth napkins? Like it was some archaic things, or something that you did when company came over... I was able to pick up a pack of 12 napkins for $12.00 bucks on clearance and when I compared that to the $25.00 we were spending every 3 months on paper towels, plus the longevity of cloth napkins he agreed that I might be on to something. Yes, we still have paper towels in our house... sometimes there are things that I don't want to clean with one of my cloth kitchen towels, and sometimes it's just easier when we have family over for parties or gatherings. But overall it's nice to be able to use something that I know can be used again and again and save money while I'm at it.
Always Check your Options.. In my hunt to make our life more simple and save money, I can say I don’t always think about all of our options on some things. Earlier this week my husband had mentioned needing to pick up dog food while making a run to the grocery store because we were out of our large bag of normal food, Diamond Naturals , that we get at our local Menards . I was thinking about that today and checked my email to see if I had received any good coupons from Chewy.com.. The time before, we had purchased 2 bags from them with a coupon I received in the mail that allowed us to get free shipping because our order was over $49.00 and we ended up saving $10.00 or so versus what we would have spent at Menards. After checking my email, no good coupons, and checking Menards, 11% off everything sale - awesome! ..  but it ends today and we’ve already been out of the house once so not making another trip. O n a whim I thought, let’s check Amazon. Turns out, Amazon, Meanard’...
You guys! I have been pining over Shawna Scafe’s - The Life on Purpose Workbook: Discover, Organize, and Plan the Life You Want to Live workbook since it came out!! I got an email from her today saying that Amazon had it on sale but wasn’t sure how long it would last.  The workbook is typically $14.00 but was on sale today for 36% off, or $9.02. I coupled this with a $5.00 Amazon gift card that I got with points from our Verizon account and $2.67 in rewards point from my Amazon Chase credit card. All in, I spent $1.98 on something I have been wanting since the beginning of the year. I am SOO excited to get this bad boy and really happy with myself for waiting to get it until now. Learning to wait on purchases outside of essentials has really made me understand what I really want and appreciate those items more when I finally get them. Happy Labor Day! P.S. Check out Shawna and her work - she is awesome and her Simple Saturday email is my favourite thing in my inbox every othe...
